How far back do you remember?

Why is there a picture of a weird monkey from the 80’s and a bunch of pumpkins in the picture?

This image brings to mind an event that happened 40 years ago exactly.

Every time I think of Halloween, I think of this “Cheekaboo”.

I was 3 years old and spending Halloween at my Grandma’s in the Rocky Mountains in Canada.

Halloween there is no simple affair. It’s like you see it in the movies. Kids all over the streets and more sugar than in Willy Wonker’s Factory.

I was only 3, my memories are vague, but I can see the odd splash of yellow, red and blue (I think it was on the princess costume I was wearing), buckets of sweets and this funny monkey.

I was given it as part of my Halloween stash. I loved that thing. It sucked it’s thumb, just like me.

Isn’t it strange how an event that happened 40 years ago, one night, can stick with you just because of a toy monkey?

This is what we call an anchor.

We do it subconsciously all the time.

We create both positive and negative anchors based on sight, sound, smell, taste and especially touch.

When we look at something, or hear a piece of music, it takes us back to the time and place of that event, and the emotion we had. Remember that old boyfriend with the aftershave…I’ll leave it there.

Imagine if we could create positive, happy feelings whenever we want, or need a boost?

It would surely be magical.

In NLP we do just that. We link your memories to the present so that you can feel powerful (confident, calm, focused) at any given moment.

Now isn’t that a superpower you would love to have?!

Throughout my 3-month program, I use NLP techniques such as anchoring to create strong connections with positive moments in your life.

I have other tools that can be used to remove fears, anxiety (especially helpful on Halloween!) and limiting beliefs.

As a Holistic Change Coach, I don’t just deal with surface level goal setting in one area of your life. I deal with it all.

Many of my clients come to me for business goals and we work on relationships.

Some come for relationship goals, and we work on confidence.

Others come to find out who they are, and they do that (usually by working on both career and relationships and confidence and…you get the picture).

This does not mean I work with anyone.

I work with people going through big changes in their life and they need support. My clients are driven to do something new. They are committed to taking action and they are open to changing their old beliefs. They are individuals who want to change the world (or at least their world).

If you are going through big changes and don’t know where to start, my free downloadable mini course is a good place [ Get it Here ]

You will be able to look at the areas in your life, prioritise and decide what you truly want.

It will be the beginning of a Powerful Day and a Powerful Life.

Loved reading this. I have several anchors and never understood how I was able to recall certain moments with such clarity and yet other times, which could be considered more important and therefore more memorable, much less so.
